Vinschgau/Reschen pass

A historical rarity is the St. Benedikt chapel at the outskirts of Mals. The chapel is one of the oldest churches in Tyrol (dating back to at least the 9th century; the tower dates to the 12th century). The paintings and frescoes are among the oldest in the entire German speaking region. [tourist office Mals]
- Churburg castle in Schluderns
The Churburg, a jewel of South Tyrol not far from Mals, is located in Schluderns and is one of the best maintained castles of South Tyrol. It contains one of the largest private armories and a fairytale-like arcade dating back to the Renaissance. The castle was erected between 1253 and 1259 by the Churan bishop Heinrich von Montfort. TheStilfserjoch nature conservation area is located in the heart of the Alps and encompasses the entire Ortler Cevedale mountain range. The three visitor centers of the national park (Marteltal, Prad at the Stilfserjoch and in Trafoi) each contain an exhibition with a special theme.
- „aquaprad“with the theme “water”, was opened in 2003 – the international year of water
- „culturamartell“ presents the culture of farming and the landscapes of the Martel valley
- „naturatrafoi“ is dedicated to the theme “life on the border”. It offers fascinating details of the Ortler mountain range’s geology and the survival strategies of plants and animals in the extreme climate of high altitude.
