The grape harvest at Garberhof and in Val Venosta

A centuries-old tradition

From the beginning of September to mid-October, in the valleys of South Tyrol, you can witness the grape harvest or "Wimmen", as it is called here. The ripe bunches are mostly cut from the vine by hand, then are selected and transformed by the cellar master into fine wines, each with its own unique character. Numerous wineries organize themed guided tours with tastings. Even Klaus, your host, was able to give voice to his passion for oenology: in 2020, together with Hilde Van de Dries of the Calvenschlössel Estate, he planted a vineyard without the use of machinery.
